Fake WhatsApp Support Messages
Messages claiming to be from 'WhatsApp Security' warn your account will be closed unless you verify. What official WhatsApp messages look like and how to spot the fakes.

A message arrives from "WhatsApp Security Team" with the WhatsApp logo as its profile photo. It says your account has been reported, will be deleted in 24 hours, or needs "verification". It asks for your six-digit code, a PIN or a small payment.
What real WhatsApp support looks like
- It usually replies after you contact it through the app or website.
- It comes from an official account with a verified badge and an official label.
- It never asks for your registration code, PIN, full name or payment.
Common fake support lures
- "Your account will be deleted" or "banned".
- "Upgrade to WhatsApp Gold" or a premium version. See unofficial apps.
- "Update WhatsApp using this link." See fake update messages.
- "Pay a fee to keep your account active." WhatsApp does not charge personal users.
Never share your code or PIN. Doing so hands your account to a scammer. See the verification code scam.
